...about The Sky Above Us:
Violet Lindstrom wanted to be a missionary, but for now she serves in the American Red Cross, where she arranges entertainment for the men of the 357th in the Aeroclub on base and sets up programs for local children. Drawn to the mysterious Adler, she enlists his help with her work and urges him to reconnect with his family after a long estrangement.
Despite himself, Adler finds his defenses crumbling when it comes to Violet. But D-day draws near. And secrets can't stay buried forever.
Bestselling author Sarah Sundin returns readers to the shores of Normandy, this time in the air, as the second Paxton brother prepares to face the past--and the most fearsome battle of his life.

In 1944, American naval officer Lt. Wyatt Paxton arrives in London to prepare for the Allied invasion of France. He works closely with Dorothy Fairfax, a "Wren" in the Women's Royal Naval Service. Dorothy pieces together reconnaissance photographs with thousands of holiday snapshots of France--including those of her own family's summer home--in order to create accurate maps of Normandy. Maps that Wyatt will turn into naval bombardment plans.
As the two spend concentrated time together in the pressure cooker of war, their deepening friendship threatens to turn to love. Dorothy must resist its pull. Her bereaved father depends on her, and her heart already belongs to another man. Wyatt too has much to lose. The closer he gets to Dorothy, the more he fears his efforts to win the war will destroy everything she has ever loved.
The tense days leading up to the monumental D-Day landing blaze to life under Sarah Sundin's practiced pen with this powerful new series.

Thank you...May you all be blessed and inspired!
Hope-Inspired Stories Photo: The beautiful photo of Sodus Bay, N.Y. during a particularly harsh storm on Lake Ontario was taken by photographer and sister in Christ, Ginger Strom. Note the courageous lone seagull taking flight in the upper right corner of the photo.
On a final note...Sarah's favorite hymn, the beautiful "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee" is a poem written by Henry van Dyke in 1907 with the intention of musically setting it to the famous "Ode to Joy" melody of the final movement of Ludwig van Beethoven's final symphony, Symphony No. 9 written by Ludwig Van Beethoven.
Those covers are stunning. And the stories sound intriguing.
ReplyDeleteSarah Sundin has been on my radar for a long time - and these books sound really good! I had a great-aunt Dorothy who was a teen and young adult during WWII, so the name stood out to me after reading letters her brother, my great-uncle, wrote to my own grandmother, their older sister. Thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading The Sea Before Us and loved it. I was sad to finish it. I could not wait for The Sky Above Us to come out. Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to read The Sky Above Us yet. I can't wait.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping in ladies...Was going to go with Valentine's Day, but I decided to put up the WWII novels in Feb. for personal reasons. Martha- a sign of a really good book when your sad to finish it! Such strong writing, you want to revisit the setting & characters. Regina--I sense a story brewing in that collection of letters! And, Chappie--what a loyal trooper--thank you!
