To Hope-Inspired Stories, for anyone who'd like to discover more about books and
stories that uplift and encourage.

Several years ago, while teaching high school art, I found out I was as thrilled as my students when they won awards or were acknowledged for their accomplishments, and that promoting other people's good works was very gratifying. 

So it's my hope you are blessed with a message of grace through the words of authors featured here. 


Please join me each week as writers of fiction, nonfiction, and devotionals; of romance, mystery, historical and contemporary stories share their work.


To close out the month of August, is well-known multi-published author Deborah Raney and her latest novel, Reason to Breathe, published by Gilead Publishing.

About the Author:


Deborah Raney's first novel, A Vow to Cherish, inspired the World Wide Pictures film of the same title. Deborah and her husband, Ken, traded small-town life in Kansas--the setting of many of Deb's novels--for life in the city of Wichita. They love traveling to teach at writers conferences across the country and to visit their four children and a growing brood of grandchildren (who all live much too far away).

  4. I, too, cherish this hymn that I learned as young Catholuc girl. At age 21, I becsme born again & so appreciated singing this hymn as Protestant because it was the only one familiar to me.

    1. If we grew up in church, hymns are extra special, I think! I remember when we moved to New York (from Kansas!) as newlyweds, hearing familiar hymns in the church we attended in New York was a reminder that God was EVERYWHERE!

  10. How perfect is that song. In this world we live in it is so great to know that we have a Holy God Who knows every thing going on and is in charge of thevworld. Nothing surprised Him and He will bring it all around to glorify His Holy Name.

  11. Great hymn! I love that one too. My other favorite is the Martin Luther classic, A Mighty Fortress. Deborah, I love the cover of your new book, and the premise sounds great. I've had camping and cottages (basically any getaways) on my mind all summer, so it speaks to me.It doesn't hurt that your hero's name is Quinn (my eldest son's name too). I'll certainly be adding this to my TBR list.

  14. Thanks so much for all the comments and encouraging words, everyone! Pat, to answer your question about "Do you have certain people in mind when you create your characters?" I DO! I'm a very visual person, so I can't really make my characters come to life until I have a strong image of them in my mind!
