DiAnn Mills ~ Author

Welcome...
To Hope-Inspired Stories, for anyone who'd like to discover more about books and stories that uplift and encourage.

Several years ago, while teaching high school art, I was as thrilled as my students when they won awards or were acknowledged for their accomplishments, and that encouraging other people's good works was very gratifying.

So it is my hope you are blessed with a message of grace as I was, through the words of authors featured here. Please join me in welcoming writers of fiction, nonfiction, and devotionals; of romance, mystery, historical and contemporary stories as they share their work.

Autumn is here and it makes me think of curling up with a cup of hot tea or cocoa, and delving into the suspense and mystery of October's great reads...📖 🍁 🍂 ☕

This week I'd like to welcome author DiAnn Mills and her most recent release--"Airborne." fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense novel that just happens to relate to similar circumstances we're experiencing world-wide now--
though this story was written well before the pandemic!

Airborne – September 8, 2020

Publisher: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.

Heather Lawrence’s long-awaited vacation to Salzburg wasn’t supposed to go like this. Mere hours into the transatlantic flight, the Houston FBI agent is awakened when passengers begin exhibiting horrific symptoms of an unknown infection. As the virus quickly spreads and dozens of passengers fall ill, Heather fears she’s witnessing an epidemic similar to ones her estranged husband studies for a living―but this airborne contagion may have been deliberately released.

While Heather remains quarantined with other survivors, she works with her FBI colleagues to identify the person behind this attack. The prime suspect? Dr. Chad Lawrence, an expert in his field . . . and Heather’s husband. The Lawrences’ marriage has been on the rocks since Chad announced his career took precedence over his wife and future family and moved out.

As more victims fall prey days after the initial outbreak, time’s running out to hunt down the killer, one who may be closer to the victims than anyone ever expected.

Linda Shenton Matchett

Fall is coming upon us soon and it makes me think of family, friends, hot tea and cocoa, and time together.  So this week I'd like to present author Linda Shenton Matchett, and three of her recently released fiction stories... "Spies and Sweethearts", "Murder at Madison Square Garden", and "Dinah's Dilemma"...novels rich with WWII history, suspense and western romance!

Spies & Sweethearts: A WWII Romance (Sisters in Service)

Paperback – April 15, 2020

Publisher: Linda Shenton Matchett

A secret mission. A fake bride. A run for their lives.

According to the OSS training manual, the life expectancy of a radio operator in Nazi-occupied France is six weeks. Partnered with one of the agency's top spies, Gerard Lucas, newly-minted agent Emily Strealer plans to beat those odds. Then their cover is blown and all bets are off. The border to neutral Switzerland is three hundred miles away-a long way to run with SS soldiers on their heels.

Will Emily and Gerard survive the journey and get home?

And what about their hearts? Nothing in the manual prepared them for falling in love.

Murder At Madison Square Garden

Paperback - July 15, 2020 5, 2020

Publisher : Shortwave Press

The dream of a lifetime becomes a nightmare.

Photojournalist Theodora "Teddy" Schafer's career has hit the skids thanks to rumors of plagiarism. With any luck, a photo spread with Charles Lindbergh at the America First Rally will salvage her reputation. After an attempted assassination of Lindbergh leaves another man dead, Teddy is left holding the gun. Literally. Can she prove her innocence before the police lock her up for a murder she didn't commit?

Private Investigator Ric Bogart wants nothing to do with women after his wife cleaned out their bank account and left him for another man, but he can't ignore the feeling he's supposed to help the scrappy, female reporter who is arrested for murder at the America First rally. Can he believe her claims of innocence and find the real killer without letting Teddy steal his heart?

Dinah's Dilemma

Paperback - August 15, 2020

Publisher : Linda Shenton Matchett

Will she have to run from the past for the rest of her life?

Dinah Simpkins has no chance of making a good marriage. Her outlaw brothers and her father's gambling addiction have ruined the family's reputation. Then the Westward Home and Hearts Matrimonial Agency provides an opportunity for a fresh start. After Dinah arrives in Nebraska, she discovers her brothers played a part in the death of her prospective groom's first wife.

As a former Pinkerton detective Nathan Childs knows when someone is lying. The bride sent by the matrimonial agency may be beautiful, but she's definitely hiding something, and he has no intention of marrying her until he uncovers the truth. But an easier solution may be to send her packing. Then his young daughter goes missing. He and Dinah must put aside their mutual hurt and mistrust to find her.

An exciting addition to the "Westward Home & Hearts Mail-Order Bride" series, this story is a Christian western romance. Easily read as a stand-alone.

Never Alone - Iris Fisher Smith

Fall is coming upon us soon and it makes me think of family, friends, hot tea and cocoa, and time together.  So this week I'd like to present Iris Fisher Smith's non-fiction work "Never Alone"...her story of the importance of family and friends in her life.

My question to our visitors: Would you have the courage to write a memoir and include details you might consider too sensitive to reveal-- if you thought it would benefit others?

Publisher : Dorrance Publishing Co. Inc. (August 21, 2020)
(Format: Kindle Edition)
Iris Fisher Smith's stories of family, friends and health will show the importance of sticking together with those you love. She had an Italian Grandmother who, in her teens, idolized Bonnie and Clyde; a father who was friends with Leonard Nimoy; a mother who attended school with the Boston Strangler and more. This family provides a rich history that shaped the author's life and personality. When Life becomes challenging, this is the time we need each other the most. It is important to laugh and play together and enjoy each other’s company.

About the Author:

Iris Fisher Smith grew up in Boston in an Italian/Jewish Russian culture. She comes from a large family. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends doing special activities. She enjoys music and writing. Smith has been strengthened by God's grace throughout the many challenges she has faced with her health. Leaning on God and close friends and family members has made all the difference. She is also known as a woman of prayer and faith by her friends and family.

Author: Iris Fisher Smith

A few words from Iris about the importance of writing this book...
I started the process of writing this book three years ago, because I had moved to Washington State from Boston to be near my son and daughter-in-law and their new baby.
Why did I write the book?
Well, because I missed the family I once knew, and the friendships I had left behind.  I wrote the book to emphasize the importance of friendships and family and sticking together. Because we face both hard times and good times in life, it's important to have those relationships so that in the midst we are not alone.

Having another hand to hold is so comforting when you are at your lowest point.  I use the scripture from Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12 in the Bible, where it talks about “Two are better than one, for if one falls, the other one picks the other one up.  And pity the man who is alone”.  In the book I talk about world history revolving around my own, and I share favorite Italian dishes that I learned to cook with my Italian grandmother.

The book is both humorous and profoundly serious at times... Never Alone means even when no one else is around--God who will always be there.
